Welcome to Santa Catarina's Floristic and Forest Inventory!

The Project of Floristic and Forest Inventory of Santa Catarina (IFFSC) is an initiative of the state government aiming to inventory the state forest remnants and create a solid database to develop a forest policy for Santa Catarina.

The Project includes, beyond the forest resource inventory, a) the floristic survey of Santa Catarina forests (vascular plants), b) the analyses of genetic variability of endangered species populations, c) the data integration of all herbaria in the state and d) the development of an on-line geographic information system in order to publish raw data and inventory results.

Composed by 5 goals, the project counts with the following institutions and executers: Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (SAR), Regional University of Blumenau (FURB), Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and Company of Agriculture Research and Rural Extension of Santa Catarina (EPAGRI). The project is funded by the Foundation for Research Support of Santa Catarina – FAPESC.

The first phase activities started in 2005, had continued in 2007 with the implementation of phase 2-4, the first inventory cycle is to be concluded until December 2010.

Its methodology was conceived to be compatible with the project of the National Forest Inventory (IFN-BR), initiative of the Brazilian National Forest Service, Ministry of Environment.
