Database and System Herbal

Assembling a database of information available in herbaria and implementation of new features in the system of so-called herbal, Herbal, to identify the botanical material collected during the field inventory work.



The herbarium will receive the botanical material and ensure their consistency in the collection of herbaria and their integration to the database. At the same time the botanical material is coming from collections, teams of herbaria and field meeting to see if, together, the species from the field and needs to collect reinforcements in case of rare and unknown species appear.

Work teams should seek as much information on the labels of the herbarium and in the literature specific to each family, the basis for characterizing the status of conservation of the species and its economic potential. After the framework of the information contained in the Illustrated Flora of Santa Catarina and families not yet published, the teams should produce an initial list of species likely to be endangered following the criteria proposed by IUCN (2002).

This list will contain the known geographic distributions for each species pre-listed, allowing you to indicate potential regions of its occurrence.
